Half
A Million For The Highlands (Scotland)
A new scheme has been launched to promote
the cultural value of the Scottish Highlands. Financed by Highland
Council, the Highland 2007 Legacy Programme will have a yearly funding pot
of £500,000 to support events, festivals and activities that raise the
profile of the region. Support is available to promoters,
artists, performers, youth groups, and community organisations, with
£125,000 of the yearly fund earmarked especially for projects involving
local schools. Funding can be provided for capital and revenue costs
(a maximum of £30,000 each), although organisations will have to make
separate applications if they require both.
Eligible projects must be based within
the boundaries of Highland Council, provide new or enhanced cultural
activity. Applications should aim to have a real
economic and social impact on the region, develop local infrastructure,
involve young people, and encourage the use of Gaelic
language.
